AT&T DONATES $50,000 TO SUPPORT HOUSTON HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE STUDENT AND EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM
HOUSTON, Dec. 21, 2009 – AT&T* announced today a $50,000 contribution to the Greater Houston Community Foundation to support the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Student and Emerging Leaders program.
The Hispanic Chamber, working with the Foundation, develops initiatives to increase visibility and participation of students and recent college graduates from area colleges and universities through seminars and networking opportunities.
“Our ultimate goal is to produce future leaders more representative of the demographic population. This contribution will help us introduce our best and brightest young people to corporations, networking and career opportunities,” said Dr. Laura Murillo, president and chief operating officer of the chamber.
“This is an investment in some of our most talented youth. When they succeed, we all benefit,” said state Rep. Jessica Farrar.
“Encouraging students to complete high school and go on to college and successful careers is our top civic priority. Supporting this organization and the great work it does in the community is a natural extension of that goal,” said Sonia Perez, AT&T senior vice president of external affairs.
