The HHCC Roundtable program for members of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, includes a Steering Committee and each Roundtable is mentored on a pro bono basis by the Silver Fox Advisors - former business owners and executives, dedicated to assisting growing businesses.
Purpose:
HHCC Roundtables provide a confidential board of advisors for owners and presidents of small and mid-size businesses. The ultimate purpose is for each member to help other members solve problems, increase profits and grow.
(Roundtables are not intended to be lead generating groups. The members only act as an advisory board of directors and a network for resources.)
Membership Requirement:
Participants in the HHCC Roundtables must be members of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Who Qualifies:
Participants in HHCC Roundtables are CEOs, presidents, or individuals who have bottom-line (P&L) responsibilities for a small to medium-sized company. The participants have formal authority to make the final decisions in their company.
Roundtable Structure:
- Each roundtable has eight to twelve members.
- Members of a roundtable represent non-competing companies and are generally not in client/customer relationships with each other.
- Members are assigned to groups based on non-competition, size of firm (number of employees and annual revenues) and other factors that may indicate a “fit”.
- Each Roundtable has a Silver Fox Advisor Mentor.
- Each roundtable member has the opportunity to review the members of his/her group. Requests for a transfer to another group due to a conflict are made to the Roundtable Mentor
- No applicant is assigned into a group without the approval of the other roundtable group members.
- Roundtables are encouraged to meet monthly, at a minimum. New roundtables should consider meeting twice a month for the first three months to establish a stronger foundation.
- Roundtables choose a regular meeting date, time, length etc. that meets the needs of all members.
- Each roundtable operates with complete autonomy, developing its own objectives, priorities, agendas, meeting times, meeting dates, and meeting locations. However, following each meeting, a report that includes names of attendees; meeting time, date and place; and topics of discussion is forwarded to the Steering Committee.
- Individuals not belonging to a HHCC Roundtable may attend meetings by invitation only.
Participant Guidelines:
-
Participants must be an active CEO (If position ends, member can stay on roundtable for 6 months while searching for another CEO position.)
-
If a roundtable member changes companies, they have 90 days until the new company must join the HHCC or they are no longer eligible to participate.
-
Group members are expected to maintain complete confidentiality
- Regular attendance by group members is essential to the success of the roundtable. Anyone who misses three meetings in a 12 month period may be asked to leave the group, unless circumstances are deemed appropriate. The group facilitator coordinates this action.
- It is recommended, to facilitate group cohesiveness, members meet with each other, one-on-one, for breakfast/lunch etc. This accelerates getting to know one another and each other’s company.
-
Participant is expected to participate fully in meetings and may be asked to serve as facilitator.
-
New participants must be approved unanimously by present roundtable members.
-
Participants must promote diversity of business skills, education, perspective, contacts, and industries.
